The National City Youth Theater Ensemble, which features many fifth and sixth grade PW students, will be having their first performance, “55,408 A Day in the Life” at Sweetwater High School on Thursday, May 31st @ 7pm, Friday, June 1st @ 7pm and Saturday June 2nd @ 2:00 PM. Tickets are $5 (Adults) , $3 (children, seniors, military), Children under 2 are free. Come by and support our Panthers!
A Car wash will be held on Saturday, 5/12 at Sweetwater Union High School from 10 AM – 1:00 PM to support the National City Youth Theater Ensemble in purchasing props for their upcoming event. Show your Palmer Way spirit by supporting this event.
American Red Cross will be having an event this Sat., May 12th at Balboa park from 9am-1pm. Children and the whole family are encouraged to attend.There will be a free CPR class that students can participate in, as well as, the entire family.Also, get info on babysitting if interested. Please go towww.sdarc.org for more info and please spread the word. the event is called “Save a Life San Diego”
Stop by Mr. Ochoa’s classroom (room C-5) to order your yearbook. The cost is $20 if you order it before May 18th. If there are yearbooks left over to sell after May 18th, the cost will be $25.
Students will have spring break ( and one teacher furlough day) from Monday, March 26th through Monday, April 9th. Classes resume Tuesday, April 10th. Students will be taking the California Standards Test the last week of April. Please visit the California Department of Education released test questions site for examples of what the test questions will be like.
During the month of March there is a contest for Reading Counts. Students can take the online Reading Counts quizzes to earn points for their class. Click on the Reading Counts links under PW Links to the right or on this READING COUNTS LINK to sign in at home.
All 150,000 books from We Give Books.org have been donated. The site will be open to read online books. If you would like to read to donate for other groups, click on the Campaigns tab to find out what groups are needing your help. Thanks to those of you that helped us earn the books!
As of 2/18/2012 at 4PM, Palmer Way has earned 81 books with just a little over 10,000 books left for donation. Keep reading we can earn up to 500. Every time you read online you can donate a book to Palmer Way’s library. Click on the sign up form in the previous post to sign up. You can keep reading through March 14th. Once the books are gone for the Read for My School campaign, you can switch to read for another campaign. Thanks for helping our school and helping yourself by reading!
